IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERDS
Statement from the Canadian National Australian
Shepherd Club (CNASA)concerning the Miniature Australian Shepherd
and the Toy Australian Shepherd.
Recently there has been a rise in the movement to breed miniature
and toy "versions" of the Australian Shepherd.
The Miniature Australian Shepherd and the Toy Australian Shepherd
are *NOT recognized OR considered varieties of the Australian Shepherd
by the following Clubs and Organizations.
CNASA
Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)
Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA)
American Kennel Club (AKC)
United Kennel Club (UKC)
Since these dogs are not CKC / ASCA / AKC / &/or UKC registered,
they cannot be verified as purebred, and therefore are not considered
Australian Shepherds by this organization.
The CNASA does not support the purposeful breeding of Miniature
Australian Shepherds and Toy Australian Shepherds.
The CNASA further encourages all members to be ever vigilant in
the preservation and protection of the Australian Shepherd and recognize
our Breed Standard of Excellence.
Note from Performance Plus Australian Shepherds
The Associations or Kennel Clubs listed above recognize PUREBRED
dogs only.
They do not advocate the CROSS breeding of two different breeds.
With the upward rise of "designer dogs"
it is important the the TRUE Australian Shepherd is preserved.
"Designer Dogs or Hybrids" are basically
a combination of two or more breeds.
Essentially they are "MIXED breeds."
People are often fooled into paying high prices for these "mixed
breeds."
Often the parents of these puppies have not been checked for hips,
eyes, elbows or heart problems. (Just to name a few)
Buy from a RESPONSIBLE breeder.
Someone who cares about the quality, preservation of their breed,
and the home in which the puppy goes to.
Responsible breeders care.
Whether it is an Australian shepherd, golden retriever or another
breed of dog, responsible breeders do not
produce "MIXED BREEDS"
They are DEDICATED to the breed and work only to IMPROVE and PRESERVE
their breed of choice.
